Wikithon is an event where people come together to learn how to edit, improve and enrich the contents of Wikipedia. The Library’s Wikithon this year will focus on editing and enriching Arabic and English pages on Qatari-themed topics including history, nature and more. We invite all enthusiasts to come and join this third edition of Wikithon at the Library.

Participate in the Young Adults Speakers Forum by presenting a speech to the public in a forum that brings together many young public speaking talents. This event is for Arabic-speaking young adults ages 14 to 18.

Join us in celebration of Qatar National Day by writing your dreams for your future in Qatar on helium balloons that we will launch together outside the Library.

Can’t make it to all your favorite spots in Qatar on National Day? Come to the Library instead, where you can use our green screen to take your photo in front of several Qatar-themed backgrounds, such as the flag, Zubara Fort, Doha skyline, the Corniche and more!

We invite you to learn more about the traditional art of the Arabian Gulf and Qatar as a shared inheritance in this lecture by artist and researcher Mohammed Alsaygh. 

Join us for Storytime every Monday at the Children's Library. In December, we will read stories written by Qatari Authors.

Historical scripts are one of the most significant forms of evidence for understanding Qatar history. This lecture will highlight personal letters and signatures from famous Qatari historical figures, which reflect the country’s social and economic life. The lecture will also discuss Mus'haf Al Zubara, one of the oldest examples of calligraphic writing that has been found in Qatar.

We are pleased to host Faisal Al Nuammi, Director of the Antiquities Department at Qatar Museums, to talk about archaeological discoveries in Qatar and what they can tell about Qatar’s past. He will also address the challenges of those discoveries and what shaped Qatar as we know it today. 

The Jaipur Literature Festival, often called “the greatest literary show on Earth,” is coming to Doha. For the first time in the region, the Library will host JLF Doha, a celebration of literature and the power of dialogue from 12 – 14 December 2019. JLF Doha is the country’s first international literature festival of its kind, which will recreate the magnificent spirit of Jaipur’s annual literary carnival in Doha.

Building and programming robots is no longer limited to the realm of science fiction or advanced research centers. Rather, it has become an important skill, combining several disciplines, including design, engineering, mathematics, science, physics and programming. In this fun workshop, you'll learn how to build and program a robot.
