The Library, in collaboration with the Kanasha initiative, is pleased to invite you to come and watch an improvisational rhetoric competition, held in conjunction with the celebration of Arabic Language Day. Selected participants will be asked to speak on the spot on a certain topic given by a panel of judges. The winners of the first three positions will be given awards.

Join this casual gathering of knitters and crocheters every Thursday from 9:00 – 11:00 AM to work on projects and share skills in a friendly atmosphere. Participants are welcome to bring their own supplies and projects or borrow the Library’s needles and yarn. All skill levels are welcome, including beginners who are interested in learning. Join us for a two-day workshop of paper fun and learn how to create beautiful notebooks by hand with conservation technician Chanaka Perera! You’ll learn to use easy, softcover techniques to create unique, handmade books. Everyone will leave with two completed notebooks, made by their own hands. These handcrafted notebooks can be used as sketchbooks, diaries, travel journals or as a special place to gather your thoughts.

Do you have the interest, talent and passion for creative writing? Would you like to enter the world of cinema— the "seventh art"—and write a screenplay? We are excited to host Qatari writer Dr. Majd Khaled Al-Ziara, a PhD in creative writing, for a lecture about her book Your Way to Control a World of Your Invention: I Will Make You a Screenwriter.
