Qatar National Library, in its role as the IFLA Preservation and Conservation Center for Arab Countries and the Middle East, is organizing the webinar “Advances in Paper Deacidification: Presenting Eastern Perspectives,” to mark the inauguration of the new mass deacidification plant at the Library.

Join us to learn about Metaverse, a virtual world that provides a digital space that enables users to come together to interact, play or live in a digital environment. This unique space already exists in online games such as Roblox and Fortnite, and recently it has expanded to include one of the most essential industries: education, where active class participation can be enhanced through promising new technology.

Join us in this interactive practical session that reflects the Library’s belief that the key to studying manuscripts is the ability to read correctly, understanding the basics of codicology and transcription methods. It is necessary, thus, to combine theoretical knowledge of scholarship literature with the actual reading of the manuscripts and skills of identifying their variant textual and material aspects and relations.

Join us in celebrating the important impact of the Arabic language through this lecture, held in cooperation with the Qatari Authors Forum. Dr. Abdelhak Belabed, Associate Professor at Qatar University and a member of the Qatari Authors Forum, will discuss the role Arabic language plays in promoting the linguistic and cultural security of its speakers.
