Join this casual gathering of knitters and crocheters every Thursday from 9:00 – 11:00 AM to work on projects and share skills in a friendly atmosphere. Participants are welcome to bring their own supplies and projects or borrow the Library’s needles and yarn. All skill levels are welcome, including beginners who are interested in learning. Be sure to check out our collection of books on knitting and crochet while you’re here!

Celebrate 50 years since the moon landing with a special presentation at the Library, in collaboration with the US Embassy in Doha. Dr. Mary Ellen Weber, a former NASA astronaut who flew on two Space Shuttle flights, will talk about her experiences in space and the future of exploring the final frontier. Dr. Weber is a consultant in technology, innovation, strategic communications and high-risk operations, and serves on the NASA Advisory Council Committee on Technology, Innovation and Engineering.

The Library, in collaboration with the Qatari Authors Forum, is pleased to host Saleh Gharib. He will explore dialogue between the most important traditions, proverbs and legends in a way that explains their meanings and when to use them. The lecture will include the most popular literary traditions in Qatari society to restore memories of the past.

How can everyday objects be used to control computers? In this session, you’ll learn how you can use the Makey Makey invention kit to turn ordinary objects into computer keyboards.

Hazawi Al’Awalyeen are Qatari fairy tales that were told by grandparents and passed down from one generation to the next. Join storyteller Amena Al-Bader on this journey of memory as we hear some of these traditional tales. Author Asmaa Al-Kuwari will explain which of these stories are based on real events and which are myths, and the way they affected Qatari society.
